July 18, 2020— Coleman Stewart , who just finished his eligibility at NC State , recorded two time trials on Saturday at his practice in Raleigh, swimming a 44.6 in the 100 back and 45.9 in the 100 fly SCY. Stewart unfortunately missed out on his final NCAA meet this season when the championships were cancelled to slow down the coronavirus outbreak, as he was a favorite for NCAA titles in the 100 fly and the 100 and 200 back. July 17, 2020— On-fire 17-year-old Anastasiya Shkurdai shows no signs of slowing down at this 2020 Belarus Open, producing her second national record en route to another lifetime best. After already taking the 100m free on night 1, as well as the 100 fly on night 2, with the latter event’s time of 56.95 setting a new Belarusian national standard, the teen tackled the 100m backstroke here in Brest. Entering this meet, Shkurdai’s career-quickest 1back mark rested at the 1:00.59 she put up at this same meet in 2019. March 8, 2020— Regan Smith led the race from the start, pushing through fatigue as Kathleen Baker gained on her during the last 25 meters. Smith touched first at 2:06.16 while Baker’s lunge forward earned her a PB and 2020 World #3 time of 2:06.46. Baker was just three-tenths off her lifetime best of 2:06.14. Taking third also under 2:10 was Aggie Lisa Bratton , clocking in at 2:09.63. Winning the B-final was 15-year-old Mackenzie Lanning , touching in at 2:15.34.

March 8, 2020— The 2020 Speedo Sectionals Cary continued Saturday from North Carolina as some of the Tar Heel State’s best performed some solid in-season times on Saturday night. 16-year-old Charlotte Hook of the TAC Titans was a two-time winner with an impressive 2:09.55 in the 200 butterfly to start the night. Hook is a rising star in the United States and should be a big factor for the national team in a couple of years. She also won the 400 freestyle to end the night with a 4:18.41, just ahead of 15-year-old Morgan Razewski (4:19.75) of Swim MAC Carolina.

TYR Pro Series: Regan Smith Wins Sneak Peek of Trials Final in 100 Back

March 8, 2020— The final night of the TYR Pro Series stop in Des Moines was very much a sneak preview of what is to come at the United States Olympic Trials in June, especially in the women’s 100 backstroke. One night after prevailing in the 200 backstroke, Regan Smith bested a strong field at half the distance with the sixth-fastest time in history. Smith led wire-to-wire in a field that also included former world-record holder Kathleen Baker and Olivia Smoliga , the world champion in the 50 backstroke.

TYR Pro Swim Series Prelims: Regan Smith Sets the Pace in 100 Back

March 8, 2020— Regan Smith will get another chance to show what she’s got in Saturday night’s final day of the TYR Pro Swim Series stop in Des Moines. She enters the evening as the top seed in the 100 backstroke, an event where she holds the world record, after a morning swim of 58.79 seconds. The second seed is Olivia Smoliga in 59.60 with Kathleen Baker also under a minute in the morning prelims.

Last night, Missouri swept many events to score big points for the race. Tonight, Miami looks to bridge that gap as much as possible in a tough field. 2020 M. Pac-12 Championships: Quah Scratches 100 Back, 200 Free for Day 3

March 6, 2020— The 2020 men’s Pac-12 Championships continue Friday morning with prelims of the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, and 100 back. Cal’s top seed Trenton Julian has scratched out of the 400 IM, leaving teammate Hugo Gonzalez as the new top seed going in. Stanford’s Grant Shoults (#12) also scratched the event. Both will swim the 200 free instead, where Julian is the 3rd seed and Shoults is #10. Cal’s Zheng Quah has scratched from his 5th seed in the 100 back and 6th seed in the 200 free.

Masse, the former world record holder in the event (58.10), clocked 59.94 in the heats to lower the 1:00.70 meet record held by Kayla Sanchez .

She won this event by almost an entire second, a gigantic win for the now-senior at Wisconsin. Nelson returns as favorite again with clear water behind her; she’s the only swimmer under 50 seconds this year at 49.70, and all signs point to another victory for her.

March 4, 2020— The Creighton Prep boys swam to victory at the Nebraska Boys’ High School State Championships. Senior Rush Clark raced to a new Meet Record in prelims of the 100 fly, setting a lifetime best 47.21. He went on to win the final in 47.74. Clark, an FSU commit, put up a lifetime best 49.11 in the 100 back prelims. He won that race as well with a 49.54.

March 4, 2020 ARKANSAS— The Russellville boys brought home the state title at the 2020 Arkansas 5A State Championships. On the girls’ side, Mountain Home took the win in a tight race, just 14 points ahead of Russellville. While neither winning team took any event titles, they capitalized on their depth to take the victory. Jonesboro’s Bella Cothern took down her own 5A Record in the 50 free. She was just off her best in the 50 free, setting the mark in 23.18. Cothern, also set the 5A Record in the 100 free.

Tower Hill Freshman Mullins Breaks 16-Year-Old Record at Delaware Girls States

March 4, 2020 DELAWARE— A close team battle at the Delaware Girls State Championships saw Tower Hill take the title by just 9 points. Behind them, Newark Charter and Ursuline tied for the runner-up spot. Padua was just 19 points behind the winning score in 4th. Tower Hill freshman Lainey Mullins was one of the standouts of the meet. In the 200 free, Mullins broke a 16-year-old State Record. She swam a lifetime best 1:48.32 to win her first individual title.

March 3, 2020 MINNESOTA— Jack Herczeg took down the Class A Record in prelims of the 100 free. Herczeg, an Ohio State commit set it at a 44.62 and was just a hundredth slower to win the final. He also won the 200 free (1:40.29). His 1:40.12 in prelims was just a couple of tenths off the Class A Record.
