Sept. 2, 2020— The Missouri Valley Conference has approved a move of their 2020-2021 women’s swimming & diving conference championship meet to mid-April, multiple of the conference’s coaches have told SwimSwam. The exact dates have not yet been finalized, though at a coaches’ meeting, the dates of April 21-24 were discussed. The conference still intends to hold the meet at member school Southern Illinois University, which was announced earlier this year after hosting at non-member University of Missouri in the last 2 seasons. July 18, 2020— The Mid-American Conference announced Friday that it will be postponing the start of its Olympic fall sports (field hockey, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, women’s volleyball and men’s and women’s cross country) competition until September 3. March 26, 2020— Notre Dame’s longtime diving coach Caiming Xie is retiring, the school announced today in a press release. Caiming was the first full-time dive coach in program history. Caiming was the Chinese national team head coach from 1977 to 1990, and served as the Chinese Olympic diving coach in 1980. March 8, 2020— The Missouri State Bears reclaimed the MAC title from Miami (OH) last night, winning their 2nd MAC Championship in the past 3 years, and their 3rd in program history. Although their program has since been cut, Eastern Michigan still holds the record for most MAC men’s team titles – 34. Missouri State entered the final day of competition with an 80 point lead over Miami, and they ended the meet with an 80 point lead over Miami.

Missouri State Holds 80 Point Lead After Day 3 of MAC Championships

March 7, 2020— Missouri State heads into the final day of the 2020 MAC Championships with an 80 point lead over defending champions Miami (OH). The Bears were golden again on Day 3, winning the 200 free, 100 breast, 400 IM, and 400 medley relay. Missouri State sophomore Athur Cury, the 200 IM champion from Day 2, found himself at the top of the podium yet again tonight. Cury won the 200 free, swimming a 1:36.71, to beat out defending champion Pawel Krawczyk (1:37.29), also a sophomore at Missouri State.

Miami Sophomore Cole Grasshans Breaks Pool Record with 19.7 50 on Day 2 of MACs

March 6, 2020— Miami began to cut into the Missouri State lead in the next event, the 50 free, where they went 1-2. Sophomore Cole Grosshans won the race with an 19.82, touching first by a large margin of .57 seconds. Senior teammate Nick Ward won Silver with a 20.39. Grosshans was faster in prelims, swimming a 19.79 to break the SIU pool record. His prelims swim was also the 2nd fastest in MAC Championships history.
