Sept. 10, 2020— Steffi Beisel , a senior at Archbishop Mitty High School and the famed Santa Clara Swim Club in northern California, has verbally committed to the University of Arizona. Beisel is primarily a middle-distance freestyler, 200 backstroker, and 400 IMer. In spite of a distinct event similarity to Olympic medalist Elizabeth Beisel, there’s no known close relation between the two. At the 2019 Central Coast Section Championships as a sophomore, she won the B-final in the 500 free with a 4:57.35. July 15, 2020— The Florida Gators have picked up Polish breaststroker/IMer Mateusz Dubas for the 2020-21 season. Dubas has competed internationally with Poland’s junior national team. “I chose the University of Florida because I am sure that the program will take my career to the highest level and develop my life skills.” Dubas raced for Team Poland at the 2018 and 2019 editions of the European Summer Junior Champs. July 9, 2020— Trevor Jones has opted to stay in-state for his college career after verbally committing to Michigan State University for the fall of 2021. He told A talented butterflyer, IMer, and freestyler, Jones does his club swimming with dROP Aquatics and owns the Winter Junior cut in the 200 fly. He earned three best times at Juniors East in December and placed 13th in the 200 fly at Indianapolis Sectionals in 2019. Last summer, he took 10th in the 200m fly at Greensboro Futures where he also finaled in the 100m free.
