University of Michigan Swimmer Ian Miskelley Dies

Sept. 10, 2020— University of Michigan swimmer Ian Miskelley died on Monday. He was two weeks shy of his 20th birthday and was scheduled to compete for the Wolverines as a junior during the 2020-2021 season. No cause of death has been reported. Miskelley was a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection for the Wolverines and twice won the U-M Athletic Academic Achievement Award. “This tragic news is utterly devastating to our team. March 24, 2020— The University of Michigan has picked up two new verbal commitments for the 2021-22 season and beyond from local standout Abbey Ketslakh of Ann Arbor, Mich. as well as Montrose, Ala. native Letitia Sim . Farmington Hills, Mich. native Greta Gidley has changed her verbal commitment from Alabama to Michigan, and all three swimmers will suit up for the Wolverines as members of the class of 2025.

March 21, 2020— High school junior Greta Gidley , a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American from Farmington Hills, Michigan, has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Michigan’s class of 2025. This comes four months after she had made a verbal pledge to the University of Alabama for the fall of 2021. Gidley won the 100 free (50.53) and was runner-up in the 200 IM (2:01.53) at the 2019 MHSAA Girls D1 State Championships in November. She also anchored the 4th-place 200 free relay (22.92) and the 3rd-place 400 free relay (50.58).

IU men’s swimming and diving finishes third in Big Ten Championships

March 2, 2020— For the first time since 2017, the Big Ten men’s swimming and diving champions were not wearing cream and crimson Saturday night. It was the 41st conference championship for Michigan.

Ohio State ultimately edged out IU for second. Michigan finished with 1,548 points, Ohio State scored 1,329 and IU had 1,321.5. Michigan also beat IU in 2016, the last time the Hoosiers didn't win the conference.
