Mckenna Smith , a junior at the Academy at the Lakes High School and a member of Florida Elite Swimming in Land O’Lakes, Florida, has announced her verbal commitment to swim for Duke University in the fall of 2021. A sprint freestyler, Smith will be joining a Duke team who’s 200-yard freestyle relay was .31 seconds off of earning an ‘A’ cut for the 2020 NCAA Divison 1 Championship meet. She will have one year of cross over with relay members Melissa Pish and Shayna Hollander and two years with Sarah Snyder . March 4, 2020 DELAWARE—
A close team battle at the Delaware Girls State Championships saw Tower Hill take the title by just 9 points. Behind them, Newark Charter and Ursuline tied for the runner-up spot. Padua was just 19 points behind the winning score in 4th. Tower Hill freshman Lainey Mullins was one of the standouts of the meet. In the 200 free, Mullins broke a 16-year-old State Record. She swam a lifetime best 1:48.32 to win her first individual title.

In its last dual meet of the regular season on Saturday, the North Carolina swimming and diving team faced off against its rivals, the Duke. After a long day of competition, the two teams ended up splitting the meet, with the Tar Heel men defeating the Blue Devils by a score of 168-132, and the No. 15 Tar Heel women falling to Duke in a close match, 152.5-147.5.

As the season draws to a close, Duke began its farewell to its seniors by attempting to complete a four-year sweep of the Tar Heels.
