World 200m Butterfly Champion Boglarka Kapas Announces Positive Test For Coronavirus

March 31, 2020— Boglarka Kapas , who won bronze in the 800m freestyle at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, has announced she has tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). The Hungarian, who also won gold in the 200m butterfly at last year’s World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea, revealed the news on Instagram, saying: “I’ve (been) tested positive for Covid19. I don’t have any symptoms yet and that’s why it’s important for you to know that even if you feel healthy you can spread the virus. please be careful, stay at home and stay healthy.❤️” Kapas’ positive test follows the news last w ...

March 8, 2020— Lighting up the Wezenberg Pool in Antwerp, Belgium was 24-year-old Dutchman Arno Kamminga , the man who fired off a time of 2:07.18 to become the world’s 6th fastest performer ever in the event. Also making some waves was his 32-year-old teammate Femke Heemskerk , who posted her best 100m freestyle time of the season with a 53.45. Splitting 25.58/27.87, Heemskerk was able to fend off Signe Bro who produced the only other sub-54 second outing with 53.86 for silver.

March 8, 2020— International Women’s Day (IWD) So far in our celebration of IWD 2020: After being crowned world junior 100m freestyle champion in 2017, Anderson went on to win two bronze relay medals representing England at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. Later that year, she anchored the British 4x200m free and mixed medley relays to gold among four medals at the European Championships. In 2019 Anderson swam the freestyle leg as Great Britain claimed bronze in the mixed medley relay at the World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea.

After producing a morning swim of 58.52 to become the world’s 5th fastest performer all-time, the 24-year-old dropped another .09 to post a super quick 58.43. That further separates him from the rest of the world in this season’s rankings, but also bumps him up to become the 3rd fastest performer of all-time, worldwide.
