March 20, 2020— The Toronto Titans signing spree continues, with American sprinter Blake Pieroni and Icelandic Olympian Anton Sveinn McKee joining the roster of the newest International Swimming League franchise Friday. Pieroni, 24, won a gold medal with the American 400 free relay at the Rio Olympics and a bronze in the 800 free relay at the 2019 World Championships. The Indiana University grad has 12 relay medals in World Championships (Long- and Short-Course), seven of them gold. Toronto Titans Add Kayla Sanchez, Michael Chadwick to Roster
SWIMMING WORLD NEWS
March 20, 2020— The Toronto Titans, the newest International Swimming League franchise , have added their second and third signings in Canadian Kayla Sanchez and American Michael Chadwick. Sanchez, a native of Scarborough, Ontario, competed for Energy Standard last year . She was part of Canada’s stellar 2017 World Junior Championships squad, winning five medals and three golds and setting two World Junior records. Sanchez swam legs on two Canadian bronze-medal winning relays at the 2019 World Championships.

Yuri Kisil’s Cross-Country Move to Toronto Paying Dividends For Born-Again Sprinter

March 7, 2020— Yuri Kisil had been so close to making the 100 freestyle final two years in a row at the 2016 Olympics and 2017 Worlds. In Rio, he was 10th in the semi-finals, missing a spot in the final by five hundredths. A year later in Budapest, he was again 10th in the semis, missing a spot in the final by two tenths. Kisil, 24, was training with Tom Johnson at the High Performance Centre in Vancouver, and was seeing great results from his training on the west coast. But after being so close to the 100 free final two years in a row on the world stage, Kisil was getting in his own head.

March 7, 2020— Four-time Olympic medalist Penny Oleksiak was in action on Day 2 of the 2020 Winter Ontario Swimming Championships in Scarborough, racing only the prelims of the women’s 100 butterfly. Oleksiak, 19, finished in a time of 58.30 in the morning, marking her fastest swim since the 2018 Commonwealth Games. The 2016 Olympic 100 fly silver medalist, Oleksiak missed the Canadian World Championship team in this event last April when she placed third at the Trials in 58.61.

March 6, 2020— Two-time defending world champion Kylie Masse continued to show her patented consistency in the 100 backstroke on the opening night of finals at the Winter Ontario Swimming Champs in Scarborough, breaking the 1:00 barrier in both prelims and finals. Masse, the former world record holder in the event (58.10), clocked 59.94 in the heats to lower the 1:00.70 meet record held by Kayla Sanchez .
