Aug. 24, 2020— Longtime Hawaii Swim Club coach Scott Sherwood died on August 3 at the age of 48 in Waipahu, Hawaii. Sherwood worked at HSC in Oahu, coaching athletes to the Olympics, Nationals and NCAA scholarships while working full-time at Waipahu Intermediate School. A native of East Lansing, Mich., Sherwood produced multiple standout swimmers, including Olympian Christel Simms and Olympic Trials qualifier Brittany Beauchan.

July 17, 2020— The condition of Arizona high school swim coach Kerry Croswhite has deteriorated as he continues a battle against COVID-19 in a Phoenix hospital. According to an update on Friday morning posted by his sister-in-law Laure Croswhite on a Caring Bridge page, a nurse has told the family that the latest signs of Croswhite’s recovery are not positive. Doctors removed Croswhite from the sedation medicine that was given to him to deal with the discomfort of ventilation, but continued to be unresponsive. During his coaching career, Dunlap coached the boys team at South Bend Jackson High School from 1967 until 1975, when it merged with Riley High School. He continued on as the head coach at Riley until his retirement in 1995. His teams won state championships in 1978, 1986, and 1995; in addition, they finished in the runner-up position seven times: 1972, 1973, 1975, 1976, 1979, 1980, and 1983. Arizona Swim Coach Kerry Croswhite Battling COVID-19 Infection

July 11, 2020— Longtime Chandler swimming coach Kerry Croswhite is in the hospital battling for his life after testing positive for COVID-19. Croswhite, 61, fell ill on June 22. He initially tested negative for coronavirus after a stint of isolation, but his symptoms worsened on June 30. He was hospitalized twice, the second including a chest X-ray that diagnosed double pneumonia and returned a positive COVID-19 tests. He was move to the intensive care unit this week. Croswhite’s family has set up a Caring Bridge account where his wife, Laurie, is providing updates on his progress.

July 10, 2020— Head swimming & diving coach at Chandler High School in Chandler, Arizona Kerry Croswhite, 61, is “fighting for his life” according to his sister-in-law Megan Jarvis. Croswhite first became sick with fevers, aches and chills on June 22nd. After isolating himself in his home and administering over-the-counter remedies, he went to get a coronavirus test, whcih came back negative. On June 30th, Croswhite told his family that “he knew it had moved into his chest and the cough was worsening,” while his blood oxygen saturation levels were dipping.
