The YMCA has announced that they will be cancelling the long course summer championships that were set for this summer July 28 – August 1 in Greensboro, North Carolina. As the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to evolve, the YMCA remains focused on supporting YMCAs and their communities through unprecedented and unpredictable circumstances, according to its press release. The YMCA short course championships was one of the first events in the United States that was cancelled because of the pandemic as it was the first time since 1947 when Harry S. Truman was in office.

Walker Davis , who hails from Charlottesville, Virginia, has announced his verbal commitment to the University of North Carolina’s class of 2025. A junior at Albemarle High School and 2-time NISCA All American, Davis won the 100 back (48.63) and was runner-up in the 50 free (20.51) at the 2020 Virginia High School Class 5A State Swimming and Diving Championships. He also led off the 4th-place medley relay (22.66 backstroke) and anchored the 7th-place 400 free relay (46.86). His 100 back time missed the 5A high school state record by 6/10.

The Nation’s Capital Swim Club (NCAP) and Machine Aquatics, 2 of the 3 largest swim clubs in the United States, both serving the Washington D.C. area, have suspended group practices in the wake of the novel coronavirus outbreak. NCAP has finished on top of the last 6 USA Swimming Club Excellence program rankings . In a letter posted on the team’s Facebook page on Saturday, NCAP says that they will be keeping in contact with athletes “multiple times per week” to see what they are doing to remain active, and they have developed an app for athletes to use to do dryland workouts at home. ...
