The final prelims session of the 2020 men’s Pac-12 Championships take place on Saturday morning, with swimmers set to compete in the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, and 200 fly. The mile will be swum as timed finals in the afternoon, with the fastest 8 seeds swimming at the beginning of finals. Cal’s Hugo Gonzalez has scratched the 200 breast in favor of the 200 back on Saturday.

The 2020 men’s Pac-12 Championships continue Friday morning with prelims of the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, and 100 back. Cal’s top seed Trenton Julian has scratched out of the 400 IM, leaving teammate Hugo Gonzalez as the new top seed going in. Stanford’s Grant Shoults (#12) also scratched the event. Both will swim the 200 free instead, where Julian is the 3rd seed and Shoults is #10. Cal’s Zheng Quah has scratched from his 5th seed in the 100 back and 6th seed in the 200 free.

2020 MEN’S PAC-12 CHAMPIONSHIPS The first individual medal races of the 2020 men’s Pac-12 Championships take place tonight, as swimmers gear up for the 500 free, 200 IM, and 50 free. After taking a redshirt last season, Stanford’s Grant Shoults looks to return to the top of the 500 free podium. He’ll be up against Arizona’s Brooks Fail , the fastest man in the Pac-12 this season, standout ASU freshman Julian Hill , and Cal All-American Trenton Julian . Cal’s Hugo Gonzalez got off to a fast start with his 200 breast time trial at the 2020 Pac-12 Championships, but was disqualified Thursday morning in one of his signature events. After putting up a 1:51.63 for a huge lifetime best and the #4 time in the NCAA in the 200 breast, Gonzalez was one of the favorites to win the 200 IM (if he wasn’t already). He swam to a 1:43.03 in prelims, but was disqualified for a false start.
