FEB 26, 2021 - JENKS — Aiden Hayes was ready to see what he could do. Competing in the final Class 6A swimming state meet of his career, the Norman North senior locked in from the start and got into a zone. Hayes knew he was going to win his two individual races. It was just a matter of how fast he could finish. At Jenks Trojan Aquatic Center on Thursday, Hayes shattered his own expectations. The North Carolina State signee set two national high school records, winning the 50-yard freestyle in 19.20 seconds and 100 butterfly in 45.47. The previous national hi ...

Jenna and Ciera Fujiwara visited us from Hawaii to work with coach Gary in San Diego. Ciera has incredible shoulder flexibility allowing her to recover her arms straight above her head. Coupled with a late breath this technique can be the fastest way to swim butterfly with the likes of Joseph Schooling and Rikako Ikee. This technique isn’t for everyone as Ciera’s sister Jenna has better success with a wider/lower arm recovery. Find out what makes Ciera a perfect candidate for this technique and how we use swim drills to improve!

According to NISCA, the tournament is intended to create a fun activity in light of the coronavirus pandemic, especially since swim meets around the country have been canceled. In order to enter, teams had to fill out a form and include their top times all-time for their entries. Each swimmer was allowed to “swim” up to two individual events and two relays like they would in a traditional high school dual meet. The big absence here is The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida, which appears to have not submitted an entry. The school is the alma mater to Olympic gold medalists Ryan M ...

As the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to unfold essentially minute-by-minute around the world, one thing we know is that athletes across all sports are off the field, away from the court and out of the pool indefinitely. Most swimmers already had comprehensive strength and conditioning programs built into their overall training regimens, but they are now forced to rely on just those athletic outlets until they’re able to finally get wet once again. Besides dryland training, your favorite elite stars are also keeping their minds sharp by catching up on books they’ve been me ...
