After already taking the 100m free on night 1, as well as the 100 fly on night 2, with the latter event’s time of 56.95 setting a new Belarusian national standard, the teen tackled the 100m backstroke here in Brest. Entering this meet, Shkurdai’s career-quickest 1back mark rested at the 1:00.59 she put up at this same meet in 2019. Belarus’ Anastasiya Shkurdai Blasts 56.9 LCM 100 Fly at Belarusian Cup

July 17, 2020 — 17-year-old Anastasiya Shkurdai of Belarus blasted a 56.95 in the 100 butterfly at the Belarusian Cup in her home town of Brest. Shkurdai, who was the silver medalist at last summer’s World Junior Championships behind American Torri Huske in the 100 butterfly, broke her own national record of 57.39 set last year at the European Juniors. She had been as fast as a 58.2 earlier this year in March, and is not far off of the current world junior record of 56.46 set by Canada’s Penny Oleksiak on her way to Olympic silver in 2016. The time puts Shkurdai third in the world rankings for 2020 ...

July 16, 2020 — 17-year-old Anastasiya Shkurdai broke the Belarusian national record in the women’s 100m fly while competing on day 3 of the 2020 Belarus Open in Brest. After posting a speedy mark of 58.27 in the prelims to represent the only sub-minute swimmer of the field, the European Short Course champion busted out a menacing statement swim of 56.95 to stand atop the podium with the gold medal around her neck. Zsuzsanna Jakabos Signs With Energy Standard

March 8, 2020 — Energy Standard has picked up another new swimmer for its season two roster in the International Swimming League (ISL), announcing the signing of Zsuzsanna Jakabos . “Our next swimmer is new to our team this year but will be a great addition with her versatility in many events. Hungarian @zsuzsubell!", Energy Standard’s Instagram post stated today. Jakabos is a four-time Olympian, making the games in 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016, her highest finish was sixth place as a relay swimmer. She is a two-time European Short-Course champion.

March 7, 2020 — Day 2 of the 2020 Grand Prix Malmö brought anther battle between past and future NC State Wolfpack members Anton Ipsen and Alexander Norgaard . Both representing their home nation of Denmark here in Sweden, the pair took to the men’s 1500m freestyle last night in a race that saw Ipsen get to the wall first. The result was the same in tonight’s 800m free event, with 25-year-old Ipsen stopping the clock in a time of 7:55.32 to get the win over Norgaard’s 8:01.61.
