After the resignation of former head coach Mike Litzinger in October 2021, the Notre Dame swim and dive team had a wrench thrown in their season even before it officially began. Additionally, cancellation granted the Irish only five chances to compete before ACCs. Nevertheless, the team was able to accomplish record-setting performances.

A scaled-down Shamrock Invite takes on a different format this year, as the timed finals meet will see a total of six sessions over three days. The men swam morning and afternoon sessions yesterday, then wrapped up with a morning session today, and then women will swim this afternoon and tomorrow. Instead of the normal bevy of teams, this iteration of the annual invite featured only the hosts Notre Dame and Missouri State on the men’s side, with the Fighting Irish completing a clean sweep and winning 268-86. 2020 PRO SWIM SERIES – DES MOINES The 2020 Pro Swim Series stop in Des Moines continues on Friday morning with prelims of the 200 free, 200 back, 400 IM, and 100 fly. There are a few notable Olympic and World names among the prelims scratches. One of them is Simone Manuel , who will opt out of the 100 fly. Manuel will still be swimming the 200 free. Hali Flickinger , who set a new PSS Record in the 200 fly on day 2, opted out of the 400 IM. Fellow U.S. Olympian Tom Shields has scratched out of his signature 100 fly to focus on the 200 free.
