journey. British national swimmer Lauren Brantley has announced her intention to swim at Rice University beginning in the 2020-2021 season. Brantley shared the news by stating, “ ” Brantley swims year-round for the London-based Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club. She specialized in the 50, 100, and 200 fly, as well as the 200 IM. Since the age of 14, Brantley has consistently qualified for the British Summer and Winter Nationals, and the British Championships. The Nashville Aquatic Club girls have broken their 2nd National Age Group Record in as many days at the 2020 Southern Premier Meet. This time, they opened the Saturday finals session with a record-breaking 200 medley relay with the same foursome that, a day earlier, broke the 17-18 200 free relay record . The group’s winning time on Saturday in the 200 medley relay was 1:38.98. That broke the SwimMAC's Record of 1:39.40 .

There were quite a few highlight swims in Atlanta on Saturday, which featured some of the nation’a top junior swimmers. Nashville Aquatic Club’s Gretchen Walsh put up a lifetime best in the 50 free on night 2 of the 2020 Southern Premier. Walsh raced to a 21.50, taking 9 hundredths off her best from the TISCA Championships last month. Walsh, 17, has now moved ahead of Kate Douglass as the 3rd fastest ever in the 17-18 age group.

A quartet of swimmers from the Nasvhille Aquatic Club broke the 17-18 National Age Group Record in the 200 yard free relay on Friday. Swimming at the elite Southern Premier Meet in Atlanta, Georgia, the group of Alex Walsh , Alex Massey , Lauren Hurt , and Gretchen Walsh combined for a 1:29.69. That swim undercuts the old record of 1:30.09 that was set by SwimMAC Carolina in 2015.

2020 Southern Premier Meet The 2020 edition of the annual Southern Premier meet, which brings together several of the best club teams in the southeastern U.S., kicked off on Friday evening in Atlanta. A group of future teammates at the University of Virginia stole the show on the meet’s first night. In the girls’ 200 free, 17-year old high school junior Gretchen Walsh of the Nashville Aquatic Club knocked more than a second off her lifetime best, swimming 1:43.75 to win.
