Jay Baker , who hails from Durham, North Carolina, has verbally committed to the in-state Tar Heels for the fall of 2021. He will join Walker Davis in the class of 2025. Baker is a versatile IMer who has a Winter U.S. Open cut in the 400 IM, Summer Juniors cuts in the 100 back and 200 back, and Winter Juniors cuts in the 1000 free and 1650 free. A junior at Durham School Of The Arts, he won the 500 free (4:29.96) and was runner-up in the 100 back (49.38) at the 2020 NCHSAA 1A/2A State Swimming & Diving Championships.
