Emma McKeon Breaks Almost 20-Year-Old Aussie All Comers 100 Fly Record

March 14, 2020— Swimming is still going on strong down under, as day 2 of the 2020 New South Wales State Open Championships took place today at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Center (SOPAC). Day 1 brought super quick times across the board, including Kyle Chalmers ‘s double of a 1:57 200 fly and 48.2 100m free, but Emma McKeon was delightful as well, producing a 100m free time of 53.00 and 50 fly effort of 25.87. McKeon was back at it big time today, hitting a monster time of 56.36 to take the women’s 100m butterfly in a new All Comers Record.

Meanwhile, Andrew’s second-place time of 51.33 re-set his PB from this morning, good enough for 6th in the world.

Claire Curzan Swims Solid 58.0 100 Fly LCM on Friday Night of Speedo Sectionals Cary

March 7, 2020— On the same night that 17-year-old broke the national age group record in the 17-18 age group with a 57.3, 15-year-old Claire Curzan swam an impressive 58.00 at the Speedo Sectionals Cary meet in North Carolina. Curzan is second all-time in the 15-16 age group behind Torri Huske , who was a 57.48 in December. Curzan’s best is a 57.8 and she has been dubbed as a swimmer to watch out for in the next couple of years. Curzan of the TAC Titans also won the 200 freestyle minutes earlier with a 2:02.27.

Dressel Clocks 50.97 FL, Breaks Conger's PSS Record in Des Moines

March 7, 2020— Topping off the evening in Des Moines was the men’s 100 fly final, headlined by Andrew Wilson, who won the 100 breast on Thursday. At the finish, however, Andrew slowly fatigued as Caeleb Dressel accelerated past him. At the touch, it was Dressel with the win at 50.92, breaking the 2018 PSS record held by Jack Conger (51.00). This time marks Dressel’s 11th swim under 51 seconds in the 100 fly. Outside of taper meets, this is Dressel’s 2nd-fastest swim in-season.

March 7, 2020— 2020 CARY SECTIONALS With several standout performances this morning in yards, tonight’s finals saw TAC Titans 15-year-old Claire Curzan post a 58.00 in the 100 fly in long course. Curzan has only been quicker once before this, a 57.87 that sits just off of Torri Huske’s 57.71 15-16 NAG record. This morning in yards, Curzan was 50.89, not far from her personal best of 50.35.
