Anna Shaw , a rising senior at Heritage High School in Littleton, Colorado, has announced her intention to attend Stanford University in 2021-22. Shaw specializes in sprint freestyle and is the reigning Colorado high school 5A state champion in the 50 free. At the 2020 CHSAA Girls 5A State Championships in February, she won the 50 free in 22.99, the only sub-23 sprinter in the field. She also placed 2nd in the 100 free (50.10), led off the 3rd-place medley relay (26.22 for the 50 backstroke), and contributed a leg (50.32) to the 9th-place 400 free relay. The Pac-12 announced its Winter Academic Honor Roll recipients on Tuesday, with a total of 152 swimmers and divers being recognized from eight different teams. Overall there were 304 student-athletes receiving the honor, which requires them to hold a spot on their respective team roster, have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or above, and have served at least one year in residence at the institution. There is no longer a selection process to determine all-academic teams for each sport. The Stanford women led the way for swimming & diving with 18 making the cut, while the Cardinal men had 12. ...

Cal’s Abbey Weitzeil, the reigning NCAA Champion, made history this season as the first woman to break 21 in the 50 free. Weitzeil turned in a 20.90 at the Minnesota Invite, breaking the American and NCAA Record. At the 2020 Pac-12 Championships, Weitzeil took down the Pac-12 Meet Record in 21.03, but hyper-extended her arm on the finish, causing her to scratch the rest of the meet.
