The SEC announced its weekly swimming and diving honors. SEC Men’s Swimmer of the Week: Jack Dolmolin, Georgia Georgia’s Jack Dalmolin, a senior from Cumming, Ga., closed his home career at Georgia with two individual wins against South Carolina. Dalmolin swept the breaststroke events, taking first in the 100 with a time of 55.08 and in the 200 with a time of 2:00.27. Led by three wins from senior Courtney Harnish on Senior Day, Georgia swept South Carolina in a pair of meets on Saturday . The No. 3 women claimed a 184-116 win over the Gamecocks, while the No. 2 men eased to a 179.5-103.5 victory. Harnish was one of the 17 members of the Georgia men’s and women’s teams swimming for the final time at Gabrielsen Natatorium. Five would win events against South Carolina. Harnish led the way. Manalapan, Fla. sprint freestyler Reese Branzell has verbally committed to the University of Georgia for the fall of 2021. He will join Brennan Cheney, Jackson Bates, Sam Parker, Mitchell Norton, Henré Louw, Zach Kohm and Ryan Wylie as a member of the Bulldogs’ class of 2025.

There were quite a few highlight swims in Atlanta on Saturday, which featured some of the nation’a top junior swimmers. Nashville Aquatic Club’s Gretchen Walsh put up a lifetime best in the 50 free on night 2 of the 2020 Southern Premier. Walsh raced to a 21.50, taking 9 hundredths off her best from the TISCA Championships last month. Walsh, 17, has now moved ahead of Kate Douglass as the 3rd fastest ever in the 17-18 age group.

2020 Southern Premier Meet The 2020 edition of the annual Southern Premier meet, which brings together several of the best club teams in the southeastern U.S., kicked off on Friday evening in Atlanta. A group of future teammates at the University of Virginia stole the show on the meet’s first night. In the girls’ 200 free, 17-year old high school junior Gretchen Walsh of the Nashville Aquatic Club knocked more than a second off her lifetime best, swimming 1:43.75 to win.

National Junior Teamer Magahey took down the Georgia State Record in the 200 free. The former mark stood at a 1:35.16. Magahey cleared that easily in 1:34.37.
