Jeremy Kipp has added one more name to the newly-constructed swimming & diving coaching staff at USC, and it’s a big one in Pac-12 circles. Lea Maurer has been named the program’s new associate head coach. Maurer, a 1992 Olympic gold and bronze medalist and 1998 World Champion, was the head coach of the women’s program at Stanford from 2005 through 2012. In light of the Olympic postponement, United States National Team member Erica Sullivan is waiting to see who USC will hire to replace outgoing head coach Dave Salo before confirming she will enroll next fall. Sullivan graduated high school in 2018 and committed to USC, deferring her enrollment a year to focus on training for Tokyo. The Pac-12 Conference announced the recipients of the 2020 Pac-12 Women’s Swimming and Diving awards, as voted on by the league coaches. USC Trojans Louise Hansson was named the Pac-12 Swimmer of the Year and Dave Salo was voted Pac-12 Swimming Coach of the Year.

USC head coach Dave Salo is ending his career leading the Trojans with a bang. After 14 seasons leading the Trojans, Salo will end his career there as the Pac-12 Women’s Coach of the Year. Salo announced earlier this year that he would step down from his role as the head men’s and women’s coach of the varsity team at the end of the NCAA Championship meet . The 2020 Pac-12 Men’s Championships opened its final night with Saturday’s finals session from Federal Way, Washington. Cal had a strong fourth day and lead by more than 150 points heading into the final day. Dave Durden ‘s Golden Bears put 12 in the finals Saturday night as they close in on the Pac-12 title. USC sprinters Laticia Transom, Marta Ciesla and Tatum Wade made their move at the 2020 Pac-12 Women’s Championships on Saturday night, and sent coach Dave Salo out with a huge final night to his Pac-12 career. The meet may have gone to Stanford , but the 100 free went to the Trojans.
