July 19, 2020 — 16-year-old Claire Curzan , fresh off a best time in the 50 freestyle on Friday , swam an extremely impressive 50.03 in the 100 butterfly on Saturday afternoon at her home club’s intrasquad meet in North Carolina. Curzan crushed her best time of 50.35 that she set earlier this year at the North Carolina high school state championships, which also stands as the national high school record and the national age group record for 15-16-year-olds. July 19, 2020 — Stanford University has landed another big recruit for the 2021-22 season, this time from Bellevue, Wash. native and U.S. National Junior Team member Amy Tang . She will join Anna Shaw, Samantha Tadder, Torri Huske and Meghan Lynch, as well as diver Lauren Burch, as a member of the Cardinal’s class of 2025. At the 7th FINA World Junior Championships last summer in Budapest, Tang swam the third leg on the winning mixed 4x100m free relay along with Luca Urlando, Adam Chaney, and Gretchen Walsh.

July 17, 2020 — Anna Shaw , a rising senior at Heritage High School in Littleton, Colorado, has announced her intention to attend Stanford University in 2021-22. Shaw specializes in sprint freestyle and is the reigning Colorado high school 5A state champion in the 50 free. At the 2020 CHSAA Girls 5A State Championships in February, she won the 50 free in 22.99, the only sub-23 sprinter in the field. July 17, 2020 — 17-year-old Anastasiya Shkurdai of Belarus blasted a 56.95 in the 100 butterfly at the Belarusian Cup in her home town of Brest. Shkurdai, who was the silver medalist at last summer’s World Junior Championships behind American Torri Huske in the 100 butterfly, broke her own national record of 57.39 set last year at the European Juniors. She had been as fast as a 58.2 earlier this year in March, and is not far off of the current world junior record of 56.46 set by Canada’s Penny Oleksiak on her way to Olympic silver in 2016. June 4, 2020 — According to NISCA, the tournament is intended to create a fun activity in light of the coronavirus pandemic, especially since swim meets around the country have been canceled. In order to enter, teams had to fill out a form and include their top times all-time for their entries. Claire Curzan Swims Solid 58.0 100 Fly LCM on Friday Night of Speedo Sectionals Cary

March 7, 2020 — On the same night that 17-year-old broke the national age group record in the 17-18 age group with a 57.3, 15-year-old Claire Curzan swam an impressive 58.00 at the Speedo Sectionals Cary meet in North Carolina. Curzan is second all-time in the 15-16 age group behind Torri Huske , who was a 57.48 in December. Curzan’s best is a 57.8 and she has been dubbed as a swimmer to watch out for in the next couple of years. Curzan of the TAC Titans also won the 200 freestyle minutes earlier with a 2:02.27.
