After a string of impressive performances throughout the International Swimming League (ISL) season 2 and beyond, Belarusian Ilya Shymanovich earned the 2020 Swammy Award for European Swimmer of the Year. 17-year-old Anastasiya Shkurdai broke the Belarusian national record in the women’s 100m fly while competing on day 3 of the 2020 Belarus Open in Brest. After posting a speedy mark of 58.27 in the prelims to represent the only sub-minute swimmer of the field, the European Short Course champion busted out a menacing statement swim of 56.95 to stand atop the podium with the gold medal around her neck. 24-year-old Arno Kamminga from the Netherlands has been on fire all-year long as he was expected to be a key player among the medalists in the 100 & 200 breaststroke at the Tokyo Olympic Games that were set to take place two weeks from now. But with the Olympics being move back a year, that gives every swimmer a chance to reset before chasing their Olympic dreams in 2021. Energy Standard has picked up another new swimmer for its season two roster in the International Swimming League (ISL), announcing the signing of Zsuzsanna Jakabos . “Our next swimmer is new to our team this year but will be a great addition with her versatility in many events. Hungarian @zsuzsubell!", Energy Standard’s Instagram post stated today. Jakabos is a four-time Olympian, making the games in 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016, her highest finish was sixth place as a relay swimmer. She is a two-time European Short-Course champion.

Just when we were settling down from 24-year-old Arno Kamminga’s new Dutch national record of 58.52 in the 100m breaststroke heats here at the Antwerp Diamond Race, the man went ahead and shaved another .09 off of that outing in the final. Hitting the wall in a monster time of 58.43 for gold by a mile, Kamminga keeps getting better, moving his PB and national record down from 58.98 in November to 58.65 in December to 58.61 in January and even lower to 58.52 this morning before his 58.43 eye-popper this evening.

24-year-old Arno Kamminga keeps lowering the bar big time when it comes to both his own personal best, as well as the Dutch national record, in the men’s 100m breaststroke. While competing on day 1 heats of the 2020 Antwerp Diamond Race, the two-time 2019 European Short Course Champion fired off a huge 58.52 to easily take the top seed and further demonstrate he is not one to be counted out for a medal at this summer’s Olympics.

Siobhan Haughey , fresh off of breaking her own Hong Kong record in the 100 free, is heading to a new professional team in the International Swimming League (ISL). Haughey, who finished fourth at the 2019 World Championships in the 200 freestyle, was a member of the DC Trident last season, will be swimming for Energy Standard for the second ISL season.
